Now that the defense is loaded, the Eagles turned their attention to the holes along the offensive line, signing Guard Evan Mathis to a one year deal. Having played for the Panthers, Dolphins and most recently the Bengals, Mathis has a bunch of experience in his 6 year NFL career but his signing is likely a depth move for the Eagles. Mathis started 12 games for the Bengals last year.With rookie Danny Watkins still not signed, Mathis is insurance at guard should Watkins not be ready to start in Week One. Mathis will be a fine fill-in but he isn't someone the Eagles should be excited about starting for more than a few weeks.
